Last few days...

So I haven't been on much the last few days, a mixture of forgetting, and being busy!

I have however been using my wrap a little bit! Went to a friends house to see her and her son who is a day younger than Alice and her 2 year old too and managed to incorporate a wrap into lunch... No not the edible kind...a hip wrap so that I had a hands free baby, whilst my friend struggled with her two both needing attention simultaneously.

Attempted a 'Double Hammock' back wrap too the other day. Attempt 1 with a rupert the bear teddy of similar size to Alice went on...Attempt 2 with Alice not so much...got about half way, it was all loose and saggy and she es having none of it, so have it up as a bad job. I was on my own too though. However she didn't spew down my hair/neck this time to that was a bonus...and when trying to get her out/ put her down then we got all a bit tangled up...which was 'interesting'...!

The dangers of a 'ruck' wrap!

No pictures today - but just to let you know that yesterday I attempted to do a 'ruck' type wrap on my own...Alice spewed down the back of my neck....that was lovely! Then I only realised that there was also spew in my hair too, when I took out my ponytail when I went to be - thankfully I didn't go out anywhere yesterday!! That is all!

Ythan Estuary explore

This evening we did a little tesco shop then went for a little walk afterwards. Down a track and along to the Ythan Estuary. It was muddy, but a nice stretch of the legs...another hip carry too...although something must have not been tight enough as right at the end Alice's bum started sliding out the bottom!

Achindoun Castle

Yesterday we voted in the Scottish referendum and then decided to escape the frenzied news/Facebook reports by taking a day trip. We discovered a castle that neither of us had been to before, near Dufftown. Achindoun Castle.

I managed a couple of different wraps today a nice little hip carry and also a back carry of sorts! I know they are far from perfect but both myself and Alice were comfy and happy. So all good!

Castle in the Mist (no gorillas though)

So today I didn't use my wrap...had the pushchair instead! But yesterday myself, my partner & my baby all went for an evening walk along the cliff tops to our local castle Slains. Apparently inspiration for Bram Stokers Dracula as he is know to have stayed at the village. We walked a good mile or so with a bit of deviation off piste. The wrap was great and Alice was soon fast asleep...she missed almost the whole thing! Hey ho! Here's some photos of the trip.

& so it begins...

Yesterday my baby wrap arrived in the post. Nothing fancy, no silk mix or anything like that, cheapest I could find (almost) on eBay for £24! It is woven though and 100% cotton, stripey & purply pinky...just what I wanted!

My little one, Alice, is now 5.5 months old and I've wanted one of these wraps from the word go but could never find one to my budget/taste! My parents treated me to this one...as my maternity pay is not stretching very far these days! We have been using a handed down (from my manager at work!) baby bjorn which I feel works well with a scarf wrapped round her legs. She does also like facing outward a too and seeing what's going on. I know there are issues with hips etc with Bjorn type carriers, but mostly it's common sense use I would advocate as far as they are concerned. Anyway I just fancied a wrap as I loved the versatility and it appeals to my inner (& outer) hippy!

So today I mastered the 'front crossover wrap' as they call it....& we managed to hang out the washing together with limited fuss. I also tried to tackle a back wrap...yeah...maybe when there are two of us to grapple with Alice and the metres of material! It did work to a fashion, but Alice was not in the best of moods about it! Hey ho! Next time! (I only managed a blurred photo of this alas!)

I also tried a sideways hip wrap...(don't judge me for not knowing the names yet!)...& we managed to empty the bins and walk up the driveway with the rubbish. So I was pretty happy with that.

Tomorrow I am meeting up with another mother from netmums and going for a woodland walk. I'm going to go armed with both my wrap and my bjorn (just in case!). So I'll let you know how that goes!

Oh yeah...& I'm Rhian, by the way and these are my ramblings!
